Staples Network Services by Thrive® Senior Network Engineer Featured in PC World Magazine

March 31, 2010 – Staples Network Services by Thrive, a complete IT solutions provider for emerging to mid-sized businesses, is proud to announce that Senior Network Engineer, Eric Thompson, was selected as a featured contributor for PC World magazine's 'Tech Audit' series. The 'Tech Audit' series provides hands-on technology expertise from some of America's top IT professionals. Each week, PC World showcases serious tech makeovers performed by independent IT companies for actual businesses.

In the June 2010 edition, Eric Thompson outlines how he provided Staples Network Services' client Boston Financial Investment Management with a virtualization solution and a secure VPN that has improved employee access to the company's internal software from virtually anywhere.

Boston Financial Investment Management, a national leader in the low-income housing tax credit industry, needed a secure way to make its homegrown applications accessible to its 150 employees in the field and in the office. To provide a stable configuration of a workstation to both remote internal employees as well as external vendors requiring access to Boston Financial's applications and networks, Eric selected VMware View 4.0. The View implementation provided BFIM with a centrally managed, on-demand solution allowing users the flexibility they need while allowing IT staff to control costs and increase availability.

Eric Thompson joined Staples Network Services in June of 2004. He is a VMware Certified Professional on vSphere 4 (VCP4) and has his Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MSCE) certification in Windows Server 2003.
